Pre-Season Boathouse Clean Up

On Saturday August 17th, we’ll be having a pre-season clean up, 9am to noonish.

All hands needed!  No experience necessary. 

To do list is outlined below.

• Move older boats outside to scrap. Some of these boats are on the top rack.  We’ll need some taller people to assist.  We’ll need parents with reciprocating saws or chainsaws and protective gear.
  • Boats will be cut up and placed in a dumpster. Due to the nature of this activity, no Juniors will be allowed to assist in this process.
  • If you would like a piece of a boat, please be there on Saturday.  All boats to be scrapped will be in the dumpster by the end of the day.
• Moving boats currently not used to higher racks.

Once boats are moved and while parents are scrapping boats, we can perform some much needed maintenance:

Boats:

• Wash inside and out
• Inspect all hardware, shoes, parts, pieces, etc.
  • Tighten and make necessary repairs/replacements
• Check measurements

Oars

• Clean the grips / handles
• Inspect the blades, shafts, sleeves and collars for any damage or wear
  • Tighten and make necessary repairs/replacements
• Check measurements

Cox-Boxes

• Follow NK’s recommendations for maintenance
